An Autumnal Wedding at The Coseners House Abingdon - Sian & Gareth 2022
As we say goodbye to what has been a hot hot HOT summer, we welcome a seasonal change.
Although we might have lost the longer days and the expected seasonal mercury being over 25 degrees, my latest wedding at The Coseners House in late October had all the hallmarks of my previous weddings there… namely, it was still warm !!
Although Halloween was in full swing, and the odd firework interrupted the evenings, my wedding unfolded with the mercury an unseasonable 21 degrees.
This suited Sian and Gareth’s wedding guests as it allowed them to relax and unwind in Coseners Houses’ stunning gardens. With amazing views of the River Thames and the odd boat drifting quietly by, the guests prepared themselves for the day’s plans.
Gareth and Sian had their ceremony in the historic unicorn theatre. This amazing building dates back to the 1260s and is one of the oldest remaining buildings still standing from when the Abbey was a functioning dwelling.
Gareth and Sian's guests were ready and seated and Gareth with his adorable son Milo, waited excitedly for Sian to arrive.
The scene was set out like a play. The ceremony took place on the theatre stage and the audience were the guests…
As Sian arrived with her bridesmaids, Milo who hadn’t seen his mum for a few days beamed with excitement. The ceremony took place with Milo literally center stage.
After the event, post-ceremony drinks occurred within the ancient grounds…
Later everyone relocated the short distance to The Coseners House to prepare for the afternoon entertainment. What they didn’t know was there was a surprise in store.
Gareth and Sian had ordered the services of Murder 57.
Murder 57 is a murder mystery company that supplies actors and a theme to an unsolved crime that the unsuspecting guests find themselves deep in the middle of.
As the guests took their seats for the wedding breakfast, a group of unknown individuals took their seats at a table set out just like the other tables for the invited guests. Unsurprisingly their entrance seemed to only rouse a few raised eyebrows from those close by. As for me and the videographer, James we were very kindly invited to eat with the guests…. or shall I say, actors.
Just after the entrees the individuals at our table stood up, retrieved microphones, and swung into full action… From that point, the guests were all potential suspects or witnesses to a murder yet to be announced.
With only the bride and groom aware of the plans, the guests’ faces were indeed a picture.
As the evening unfolded the clues became apparent and the wedding party was invited to document who they thought was in the frame for the evening staged blooded occurrences.
As weddings go, this one was certainly up there in the “different’ category….

As the evening drew to a close for me at least, I left this particular wedding having completed my role not only as a wedding photographer but clear of the heinous crime of MURDER !! A job well done.
